Dr. Porter will be joining RHOC Orthopedics on July 7th!

Dr. Scott McIntosh Porter is a Santa Barbara native returning home after perfecting his surgical skills in Davis, California. Dr. Porter is a board-certified orthopedic Surgeon with almost two decades of clinical experience in general orthopedics, orthopedic sports medicine and joint replacement.

His expertise is wide-reaching including joint replacement surgeries, shoulder and knee sports medicine surgeries, hand and wrist surgeries, foot and ankle surgeries, trauma and fracture  surgeries. Dr. Porter also utilizes state of the art nonoperative technologies including PRP and regenerative medicine injections.

Dr. Porter has been on staff at Sutter Davis Hospital since 2014 where he was the top performing surgeon with a robust practice in joint replacement and sports medicine and served as Chief of Surgery from 2020 to 2024. He is known for his expertise in a wide spectrum of injuries while being praised by patients for his compassionate care and clear communication.

He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California, Davis, in 2014. During his residency, he trained extensively at one of the nation’s top orthopedic hospitals, gaining comprehensive operative experience across subspecialties. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine in 2009, where he was nominated to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He previously graduated summa cum laude from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a minor in Psychology.

Dr. Porter’s research contributions include multiple orthopedic publications. He has presented at national meetings and his work has been supported by competitive research fellowships and grants, including awards from the Helen Keller Foundation. A recipient of multiple teaching and service honors, Dr. Porter was named Teacher of the Year by the Sutter Family Medicine Residency Program in 2019. He also has a strong background in healthcare innovation.

Dr. Porter is married and has two amazing children. Outside of medicine, Dr. Porter is an accomplished long-distance runner, marathoner, and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoys surfing, yoga and weightlifting with lifestyle focus on health and fitness.
